New XP/Session system
There are problems with the current xps session. To clean them up we'll
be using the following system. In this new xp/session system you gain
a set amount of xps that is not dependent on whether you fight, role-play
or sell and buy gear. You will get the same xps no matter what is done
in the session. In this xp/session system you simply devide the number
of xps needed by the number of sessions for your current level range.
This system is broken down in the table below.

If you are level 4 in 3 sessions you would become level 5. You would
earn 1/3 (3 sessions) of the xps needed to reach 5th level, ie.1333 xps,
in each game session..
Once you attained level 5 you it would take 4 sessions in which you would
earn 1/4 (4 sessions) of the xps needed to reach 6th level, ie. 1250 xps
in each session..
At 6th level you would gain 1500 xps per session etc..
Why are we doing this?
It takes care of several problems listed below.
Problem #1
In a recent adventure there was a titanic near all session battle. At
the end of that battle the vampire retreated to her coffin. The fight
wasn't over and the vampire was not clearly defeated or avoided yet so
no xps for her. The summoned creatures she brought in are factored into
the CR of the vampire so no xps were awared for them. The only thing that
would earn xps was the one trap that was sprung which would net each player
131 xps for the adventure. Doesn't that sound just terrific for 14th level
charactes?!
Problem #2
Sometimes you miss a session that has very little xps, sometimes you miss
one that has lots. Some players are more penalized than others for abscences.
That makes no sense.
Problem #3
The existing system hands out far fewer xps for those sessions that don't
have combat. Many of those sessions are more important than the combat
adventures. Think of how much you rush to get your gear sold and bought
so you can earn at least some xps that night. Think of how the pressure
to just get through a roleplaying sessions would ease if you knew you
were getting the same amount whether you were fighting or talking. Now
you will have time to think through the problems that the adventure places
before you.
Problem #4
Cheesy as it sounds, players do take into consideration of whether to
write a journal or not based on how much xps they can net for their efforts.
Now, your effort will be rewarded the same amount based on what xp bracket
you land in. You'll still net 10% of the xps awarded you.
So why not just level us up every 4 or so sessions?
Well you still need xps as a bank account to use for creating magic items
and other times when a loss of xps is needed.
