Berserker

This prestige class is available as Open Game Content.

It is one thing to face raging barbarians, it something entirely different to face a berserker.  While most berserkers are wild savages from barbarian tribes, a few are normal people who have a deep suppressed anger.  When confronted with a berserker is best to simply flee and return when he is helpless.  It is not uncommon for berserkers to attack their allies while blinded by their rage.  It is not surprising then that berserkers are often distrusted and shunned by others.

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: simple weapons, martial weapons, light armor, medium armor

Berserker Rage - When the berserker goes into a rage he can elevate his rage to bloodlust.  Going into a berserker rage causes the rage modifiers to increase as follows; +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, +1 to Will saves, and -2 Armor Class.  While in this state the berserker is also immune to fear (magical or otherwise).  The berserker must use one of his daily rages from another class (such as the barbarian) to go into a berserker rage.  Though the berserker can still go into a normal rage if he desires.  After all of his enemies are defeated, the berserker must make a Wisdom check (DC 15) or start attacking his allies (starting with the closest one).  Each round thereafter he may attempt another Wisdom check (DC 15) to end his berserker rage.  When the berserker rage wears off, the berserker becomes exhausted for one hour.  He moves at half normal speed, cannot run or change, and suffers a -6 penalty to Strength and Dexterity.  After one hour the berserker returns to normal.

Berserker Rush - The berserker gains the Improved Bull Rush feat for free.  In addition, while in a berserker rage the berserker gains a free attack on an opponent after successfully bull rushing him.

Ignore Pain - While in a berserker rage the berserker does not fall unconscious when he reaches negative hit points nor does he lose one hit point each round (the berserker is effectively stable).  However he will still die if he reaches -10 hit points and may only take one partial action each round.  The berserker is also immune to subdual damage and cannot be stunned, staggered, dazed, or nauseated while he is in a berserker rage.

Berserker Charge - While in a berserker rage the berserker gains the listed die to damage after a successful charge.  In the event of a critical this damage is not multiplied in but added afterward.

Toughness - The berserker gains the toughness feat for free.

Know Friend From Foe - The berserker gains the listed bonus to his Wisdom checks when determining whether or not he attacks his allies during a berserker rage.

Berserker Speed - While in a berserker rage the berserker’s speed increases by 10 feet.

Damage Reduction - The berserker gains the listed damage reduction.  While in a berserker rage this damage reduction increases.  For example, a 5th level berserker has damage reduction 1/-, but while in a berserker rage his damage reduction increases to 2/-.  If the berserker also has damage reduction from another class (such as the barbarian) then they stack.

Longer Berserker Rage - The berserker rage lasts 3 additional rounds.

Berserker Fury - While in a berserker rage the berserker may make one extra attack in a round at his highest base attack bonus, but this attack and all other attacks made in the round suffer a -2 penalty to hit.

Greater Berserker Rage - When the berserker goes into his berserker rage, his rage bonuses increase by an additional +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, and a +1 bonus to Will saves.
