Dearest Mother,
Tis been far too long since my last letter. Be it known that Corellen
smiles upon our humble band of "Wandsmen". We have traveled
much further than I could hardly imagine. I have seen the tower
of Sigil, skirted the realms of death and voyaged amongst the stars.
Though my path be long, I am never alone.
I believe that I know why father forbade me to pick up the wanderer's
staff. With the aid of a good friend and chronomancer, we traveled
back in time to the beginning of the Flame Tongue War. Sadly, our
arrival was too late to prevent the slaughter of our ancestors.
I was able to speak with one who knew Grandfather and may be an
ally in the not too distant future. We did, however, make a stand
against the fell host in the human town of Coniferia. Our humble
band fought valiantly, but was only able to delay the inevitable.
The trolls destroyed the town, but through our efforts, and the
grace of Corellen, many people were saved. Do you think that father
somehow knew of our involvement in the war? That would explain why
he was so resistant to my leaving town and "meddling"
in the affairs of humans.
Upon our return we learned of the death of the human Azoun, king
of Cormyr. I hold in my hand a signet ring "Friend of Cormyr".
It was my hope that we could count on his good people to assist
us in resisting a common scourge, the Drow. His departure from this
realm is a blow to all that yearn to live free. He strived to make
his kingdom a safe harbor from the evils that plague the lands south
of the forest and will be greatly missed.
It is true that humans lust for that which is not theirs. Perhaps
it is a result of their short lives that they feel compelled to
take that which they cannot earn. Through my travels I have learned
that not all are motivated by such greed. I have seen my companion
Oskar risk his life many times to save mine as well as those of
strangers. Some humans answer to a higher rubric and to dismiss
all of them as treacherous would dishonor his Oskar's office. As
we look for allies against the Drow, it would be a mistake not to
look to the humans for help
Today, our humble band will embark upon our most ambitious quest
yet. We have traveled into the heart of the fell Zhentarim. I cannot
divulge too much lest I put our lives in danger. Let it suffice
that great good may come from our efforts.
I cannot stop from adventuring
I will drink life to the lees
In my life I have seen much and knew many
I have been a friend to some
and the bane of others
Never resting
Always sojourning
Respectfully,
Primula
