Akatosh (Aedra)
Dragon God of Time
Description: Akatosh is the chief deity of the Nine Divines (the
prescribed religious cults of Cyrodiil and its provinces), and one of
two deities found in every Tamrielic religion (the other is Lorkhan).
He is generally considered to be the first of the Gods to form in the
Beginning Place; after his establishment, other spirits found the process
of being easier and the various pantheons of the world emerged. He is
the ultimate God of the Cyrodiilic Empire, where he embodies the qualities
of endurance, invincibility, and everlasting legitimacy.
Alignment: Lawful Good
Domains: Law, Good, Luck, Protection, Fate, Time
Almalexia (Tribunal)
Description: Almalexia, mother-healer goddess of the Dunmer,
is the most popularly loved of the Dunmeri Tribunal of gods. Resident
in Morrowind's capital Mournhold, from there she casts her benevolent
influence over all of her race. Her closest followers were those of
House Indoril, who until recently formed the main ruling class of Mournhold
(and thus of Morrowind), and had done for centuries. Once the councilors
of Nerevar, the Tribunal of Vivec, Almalexia, and Sotha Sil came to
power among the Dunmer after Nerevar's death (which they may have caused,
connived at, or at least failed to prevent), and went against Nerevar's
dying wish by using the profane Tools of Kagrenac on the Heart of Lorkhan,
to steal its divine essence for themselves. Great heroism they achieved
with their divinity: but it was also their undoing, for they worked
deeds of good against the evil of the Heart, and so were already becoming
weaker even before the return of Dagoth-Ur, Nerevar's nemesis who had
also stolen power from the Heart, and acted in accordance with its evil
and grew stronger. Obviously less heroic than Vivec, Almalexia is more
a mother-figure. One who looks after, heals and nurtures her children
but is nevertheless strict and stern when they stray: the Ordinators
of House Indoril are her tools, more than anyone else's, to see to that.
The Ordinator belief, that the recent weakness of the Tribunal is down
to a lack of faith and religious fervor among its people, could quite
possibly be traced back to Almalexia.

Domains: Law, Healing, Protection, Renewal
Arkay (Aedra)
God of the Cycle of Birth and Death
Description: He is a member of the Nine Divines pantheon, and
popular elsewhere as well. Arkay is often more important in those cultures
where his father, Akatosh, is either less related to time or where his
time aspects are difficult to comprehend by the layman. He is the god
of burials and funeral rites, and is sometimes associated with the seasons.
His priests are staunch opponents of necromancy and all forms of the
undead. It is said that Arkay did not exist before the world was created
by the gods under Lorkhan's supervision/urging/trickery. Therefore,
he is sometimes called the Mortals' God.

Azura (Daedra)
The Daedric Prince of Moonshadow, Mother of the Rose, and Queen of the
Night Sky, Goddess of Dusk and Dawn
Description: Azura, whose sphere is dusk and dawn, the magic
in-between realms of twilight. Azura maintains the domain of Moonshadow,
a twilight country of shades and half-thoughts. Visitors to this isle
have historically come mainly from the Dunmer of eastern Morrowind (as
Azura is one of the Dunmeri three Good Daedra) and the cat folk of Elsweyr,
whose people both hold a great affection for the mother of immanence,
though by separate roads. She is also credited on making the Khajiit
out of the Bosmer stock in Elsweyr.
Alignment: True Neutral
Domains: Moon, Sun, Creation
Boethiah (Daedra)
Prince of Plots
Description: Boethiah, whose sphere is deceit and conspiracy,
and the secret plots of murder, assassination, treason, and unlawful
overthrow of authority. Boethiah (Prince of Plots): Heralded by the
Prophet Veloth, Boethiah is the original god-ancestor of the Dark Elves.
Through his illuminations, the eventual 'Chimer', or Changed Folk, renounced
all ties to the Aldmer and founded a new nation based on Daedric principles.
All manner of Dark Elven cultural 'advances' are attributed to Boethiah,
from philosophy to magic to 'responsible' architecture. Ancient Velothi
allegories are uniformly heroic successes of Boethiah over enemies of
every type, foundation stories of Chimeri struggle. Also known as the
Anticipation of Almalexia.
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Domains: Planning, Trickery, War, Destruction
Clavicus Vile (Daedra)
Description: Clavicus Vile has worked through mortal representatives
to gain what he desires. Molag Bal and Clavicus Vile are the patrons
of Cyrodiil's clan of vampires. He altered the Vampire blood of Cyrodiilic
Vampires, made them be able to walk during daylight, and most importantly
can deal among the common folks as another commoner - if they were well
fed. This was actually a great gift for the Vampires. What Clavicus
Vile's asking for the payment of the great service is unknown.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Domains: Undeath, Trickery, Darkness
Dibella (Aedra)
Goddess of Beauty
Description: Popular god of the Nine Divines. In Cyrodiil, she
has nearly a dozen different cults, some devoted to women, some to artists
and aesthetics, and others to erotic instruction.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Domains: Chaos, Good, Charm
Hermaeus Mora (Daedra)
Hoermius Mora, Hormaius Mora, Herma-Mora.
Description: Scrying the tides of "fate," the past
and future as read in the stars and heavens, and the treasures of knowledge
and memory. He may be the "Woodland Man" of Nedic myth who
catches villagers lost in the woods; the secondary set of his name,
Mora, is one word for "wood", "woodland" or "tree(s)"
in Elvish. He speaks with a deep, disgusting and almost-convoluted voice.
Hermaeus Mora is surely a powerful Daedric Prince to hold domain over
whole aspects of the past, present, and future.
Alignment: True Neutral
Domains: Knowledge, Time
Hircine (Daedra)
Huntsman, the Father of Manbeasts, the Lycanthrope Deity.
Description: His followers live for The Hunt, the Sport of Daedra,
the Great Game, the Chase. He normally appears as a physically-fit man
wearing a deer skull over his head and bearing a great spear. Hircine
is often depicted with a companion wolf. He created the various therianthropic
diseases which transform mortals into beasts. They reflect his sphere
admirably, hunting at night and being hunted by day. Hircine is a sportsman
who enjoys giving his prey a chance for victory, however small.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Domains: War, Renewal, Strength
Julianos (Aedra)
Description: God of Wisdom and Logic. Often associated with Jhunal,
the Nordic father of language and mathematics, Julianos is the Cyrodiilic
god of literature, law, history, and contradiction. Monastic orders
founded by Tiber Septim and dedicated to Julianos are the keepers of
the Elder Scrolls.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Domains: Law, Magic, Knowledge, Mentalism
Kynareth (Aedra)
Goddess of Air
Description: Kynareth is the strongest of the Sky spirits and
is the deity of the heavens, the winds, the elements, and the unseen
spirits of the air. Patron of sailors and travelers, Kynareth is invoked
for auspicious stars at birth and for good fortune in daily life. In
some legends, she is the first to agree to Lorkhan's plan to invent
the mortal plane, and provides the space for its creation in the void.
She is also associated with rain, a phenomenon said not to occur before
the removal of Lorkhan's divine spark.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Domains: Chaos, Good, Air, Storm, Weather
Lorkhan
The Missing God
Description: This Creator-Trickster-Tester deity is in every
Tamrielic mythic tradition. His most popular name is the Aldmeri 'Lorkhan',
or Doom Drum. He convinced or contrived the Original Spirits to bring
about the creation of the mortal plane, upsetting the status quo-- much
like his father Padomay had introduced instability into the universe
in the Beginning Place. After the world is materialized, Lorkhan is
separated from his divine center, sometimes involuntarily, and wanders
the creation of the et'Ada. He and his metaphysical placement in the
'scheme of things' is interpreted a variety of ways. In Morrowind, for
example, he is a being related to the Psijiic Endeavor, a process by
which mortals are charged with transcending the gods that created them.
To the High Elves, he is the most unholy of all higher powers, as he
forever broke their connection to the spirit plane. In the legends,
he is almost always an enemy of the Aldmer and, therefore, a hero of
early Mankind. The moons of Nirn, Masser and Secunda, are his "Flesh-Divinity."
Like the other gods he was a planet that participated in creation. His
planet split and his divine spark fell to Nirn. The moons represent
the "Cloven Duality" that is center to Lorkhan's ideals, and
are a reminder to man of his duty. Recently the moons have begun dissolving;
large black patches are appearing on their surfaces. These are not shadows
as stars can be seen through them.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Domains: Creation, Trickery, Destruction, Moon
Magnus
Magus
Description: The god of sorcery, Magnus withdrew from the creation
of the world at the last second, though it cost him dearly. What is
left of him on the world is felt and controlled by mortals as magic.
One story says that, while the idea was thought up by Lorkhan, it was
Magnus who created the schematics and diagrams needed to construct the
mortal plane. He is sometimes represented by an astrolabe, a telescope,
or, more commonly, a staff. Cyrodiilic legends say he can inhabit the
bodies of powerful magicians and lend them his power. He is associated
with Zurin Arctus, the Underking.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Domains: Spell, Magic, Knowledge
Malacath (Daedra)
God of Curses
Description: He often appears as very muscular orc, often shown
with a big and heavy weapon. He is the Patronage of the spurned and
ostracized, the keeper of the Sworn Oath, and the Bloody Curse. Malacath
was created when Boethiah ate the Aedroth Trinimac. The Orsimer ("Pariah
Folk" in Elvish) or Orcs were also created, as they were Trinimac's
devout followers. Malacath is not recognized as a Daedric Prince by
his peers, which fits his sphere perfectly. Malacath is also called
Malauch by Orcs and Orkey or the Old Knocker by Nords, who blame him
for stealing mankind's long lifespan. Malacath spurns physical weakness,
hence the above-average strength of the creatures associated with him.
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Domains: Hatred, Strength, Trickery
Mara (Aedra)
Mother Goddess, Goddess of
Love
Description: Nearly universal goddess. Origins started in mythic
times as a fertility goddess. In Skyrim, Mara is a handmaiden of Kyne.
In the Empire, she is Mother-Goddess. She is sometimes associated with
Nir of the 'Anuad', the female principle of the cosmos that gave birth
to creation. Depending on the religion, she is either married to Akatosh
or Lorkhan, or the concubine of both.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Domains: Chaos, Protection, Healing
Mehrunes Dagon (Daedra)
God of Destruction
Description: Mehrunes Dagon is the Daedra prince of destruction,
change, revolution, energy, and ambition. Popular Daedric power. He
is associated with natural dangers like fire, earthquakes, and floods.
In some cultures, though, Dagon is merely a god of bloodshed and betrayal.
He is an especially important deity in Morrowind, where he represents
its near-inhospitable terrain.
Mehrunes Dagon maintains realms called Deadlands; the realms are stormy
with dark twisted trees, howling spirits and billowing mist. But from
the records during the Oblivion Crisis the realms of Mehrunes Dagon
are masses of small fiery realms with lava as sea and fire as the sky.
The inhabitants are mostly Dremora with some lesser Daedra as their
slaves.

Domains: Destruction, Hatred, Strength, Darkness, Tyranny, War,
Trickery
Mephala (Daedra)
Androgyne, The Spider God
Description: Mephala is known by the names Webspinner, Spinner,
and Spider; whose only consistent theme seems to be interference in
the affairs of mortals for her amusement. Mephala is the Webspinner,
or the Spider God. In Morrowind, he/she was the ancestor that taught
the Chimer the skills they would need to evade their enemies or to kill
them with secret murder. Enemies were numerous in those days since the
Chimer were a small faction. He/she, along with Boethiah, organized
the clan systems that eventually became the basis for the Great Houses.
He/she founded the Morag Tong. Also called the Anticipation of Vivec.
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Domains: Spider, Trickery, Illusion, Darkness
Meridia (Daedra)
Prince of Living Energies, Lady of Infinite Energies
Description: Meridia is associated with the energies of living
things. Her holdings in Oblivion are collectively known as "The
Colored Rooms". Another Prince whose origins may not entirely be
outside of the aetherial, Meridia has at several times been linked to
Magnus the Sun. The most famous account of this association is the Tract
of Merid-nunda, which overtly casts Meridia in the role of a wayward
solar daughter, cast from the heavens for consorting with illicit spectra.
Meridia hates the undead and the people who practice Necromancy.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Domains: Creation, Sun, Earth, Plant, Renewal
Molag Bal (Daedra)
God of Schemes
Description: Molag Bal, whose sphere is the domination and enslavement
of mortals; whose desire is the harvest the souls of mortals and to
bring mortals souls within his sway by spreading seeds of strife and
discord in the mortal realms. In Morrowind he is always the archenemy
of Boethiah, the Prince of Plots. He is the main source of the obstacles
to the Dunmer people. In the legends, Molag Bal always tries to upset
the bloodlines of Houses or otherwise ruin Dunmeri 'purity'. A race
of supermonsters, said to live in Molag Amur, are the result of his
seduction of Vivec during the previous era. Molag Bal maintains the
realm called Coldharbour which is a freezing realm with a burning sky
and muddy ground, desolate, barren and filled with suffering.
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Domains: Planning, Trickery, Chaos, Suffering, Evil
Namira (Daedra)
Spirit Daedra
Description: Namira is the Daedric Prince whose sphere is the
ancient darkness. She is known as the Spirit Daedra, ruler of sundry
dark and shadowy spirits, and is often associated with spiders, insects,
slugs, and other repulsive creatures which inspire mortals with an instinctive
revulsion. Namira's followers keep to themselves and prefer living peacefully
in dark and squalid conditions, but will react violently at any attempts
to "save" them from their abysmal, minimalist lifestyles.
Alignment: True Neutral
Domains: Darkness, Spider, Retribution
Nocturnal (Daedra)
The Night Mistress
Description: Nocturnal, whose sphere is the night. Nocturnal
is accorded the title Ur-dra by nearly all the Royalty of Oblivion.
As the mother of night, she claims to be an aspect of the original Void
itself, and it is generally deemed best to fortify this declaration
in one's evening prayers. Nocturnal more-less is the thieves deity,
although she does not ask for worshippers, nor does she necessarily
give blessings to those that do recognize her.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Domains: Darkness, Moon, Chaos
Peryite (Daedra)
Taskmaster
Description: Peryite is the Daedric Prince whose sphere is the
ordering of the lowest orders of Oblivion. Some accounts also claim
his sphere is pestilence. Peryite's statue depicts a dragon, and is
ostensibly concerned with ensuring all things are accounted for, neat,
tidy and in their right order.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Domains: Law, Planning, Renewal
Sanguine (Daedra)
Description: Sanguine is the Daedric Prince whose sphere is hedonistic
revelry and debauchery, and passionate indulgences of darker natures.
He often appears on the seals and signs of brothels and whore-houses.
Sanguine is depicted as a portly man with a demon like head with horns
and always with a bottle in hand.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Domains: Chaos, Charm
Sheogorath (Daedra)
The Mad God
Description: Sheogorath is the Daedric Prince whose sphere is
madness and whose motives are unknowable. Oddly enough, he looks like
a happily-grinning banker or financier and carries a pocket watch which
does not always appear to tell time as one would expect; this is even
more unusual considering pocket watches have not been invented. He savors
the act of driving mortals insane or making them perform actions obviously
insane; his plane of Oblivion is known as the Madhouse. His creation
was not with the other princes, and his fellow princes do not consider
him a "true" Daedra. The fearful obeisance of Sheogorath is
widespread, and is found in most Tamrielic quarters. Contemporary sources
indicate that his roots are in Aldmeri creation stories; therein, he
is 'born' when Lorkhan's divine spark is removed. One crucial myth calls
him the 'Sithis-shaped hole' of the world. There is a region in Morrowind
named after him, Sheogorad. There are many Daedric shrines there, many
of which are shrines built specifically for his followers to worship
him. According to Sheogorath himself, he considers madness to be a form
of mercy for those who would otherwise not function in the world.
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Domains: Madness, Mentalism, Chaos, Evil
Sotha Sil (Tribunal)
Description: Wizard-mystic god of the Dunmer, Sotha Sil is the
least known of the divine Tribunal. He is said to be reshaping the world
from his hidden Clockwork City. Once the last survivor of a minor Dunmer
House, Sotha Sil became a great wizard in life, and was the member of
the Tribunal that managed to figure out how to use Kagrenac's Tools
on the Heart of Lorkhan to steal divine powers and become gods. Once
the councilors of Nerevar, the Tribunal of Vivec, Almalexia, and Sotha
Sil came to power among the Dunmer after Nerevar's death (which they
may have caused, connived at, or at least failed to prevent), and went
against Nerevar's dying wish by using the profane Tools of Kagrenac
on the Heart of Lorkhan, to steal its divine essence for themselves.
Great heroism they achieved with their divinity: but it was also their
undoing, for they worked deeds of good against the evil of the Heart,
and so were already becoming weaker even before the return of Dagoth-Ur,
Nerevar's nemesis who had also stolen power from the Heart, and acted
in accordance with its evil and grew stronger. Of all the Tribunal,
Sotha Sil is not only the least known but the least talked about. A
master, perhaps, of things which one was not meant to understand: or
which nobody else can understand. And, in the end, a master of things
which were so far removed from reality that he lost connection with
the real world.

Stendarr (Aedra)
God of Mercy.
Description: Stendarr
is the patron of righteous might and merciful forbearance. He is the
inspiration of magistrates and rulers, the patron of the Imperial Legions,
and the comfort of the law-abiding citizen. Stendarr has evolved from
his Nordic origins into a deity of compassion or, sometimes, righteous
rule. He is said to have accompanied Tiber Septim in his later years.
In early Altmeri legends, Stendarr is the apologist of Men.

Seat of Sundered Kings

as the protector and patron of just ruler ship and civil society. Tiber
Septim conquered all of Tamriel and ushered in the Third Era and the
Third Empire. In his aspect of Ysmir, 'Dragon of the North,' Tiber Septim
is also invoked as the patron of questing heroes.

Vaermina (Daedra)
Vaernima, Daedric Prince of Dreams and Nightmares
Description: Vaermina is a Daedric Prince whose sphere is the
realm of dreams and nightmares, and from whose realm issues forth evil
omens. Some have also claimed her sphere ties somehow to torture. Statuary
of Vaermina depicts her as female. Vaernima maintains the realm of Oblivion
called Quagmire, a nightmarish realm. Every few minutes, there was a
flash of lightning and reality shifted, always to something more horrible
and horrifying.
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Domains: Darkness, Suffering, Evil
Vivec (Tribunal)
Description: Warrior-poet god of the Dunmer, Vivec is the invisible
keeper of the holy land, ever vigilant against the dark gods of Red
Mountain. He has saved the Dunmeri people from certain death on numerous
occasions, most notably when he taught them how to breathe water (for
a span) so that he could flood Morrowind and kill the Akaviri invaders,
c. 2E 572. Once the councilors of Nerevar, the Tribunal of Vivec, Almalexia,
and Sotha Sil came to power among the Dunmer after Nerevar's death (which
they may have caused, connived at, or at least failed to prevent), and
went against Nerevar's dying wish by using the profane Tools of Kagrenac
on the Heart of Lorkhan, to steal its divine essence for themselves.
Vivec seems to have been
the most active of the Tribunal: the most obviously "heroic"
one, the one who achieved the most obviously public deeds of heroism
(including, on occasion, saving the lives of the other members of the
Tribunal). He was also the last of them to stand against Dagoth-Ur and
maintain the Ghostfence, after Sotha Sil had withdrawn completely into
his own clockwork world and Almalexia given in to despair, covered only
by the barest facade of caring about her people in her own city of Mournhold.

Zenithar (Aedra)
God of Work and Commerce
Description: Zenithar
is the deity of wealth, labor, commerce, and communication. His priests
have shown that the way to peace and prosperity is through earnest work
and honest profit, not through war and bloodshed. Zenithar is understandably
associated with Z'en. In the Empire, however, he is a far more cultivated
god of merchants and middle nobility. His worshippers say, despite his
mysterious origins, Zenithar is the god 'that will always win'.
